Caffè di Marzano: A Chameleon-like Coffee Shop in the Center of Lisbon

Waking up, leaving the house to go to work, stopping at the cafe to drink a cappuccino ; leave the office, meet friends and drink a drink in the late afternoon – what if these two moments of the day could be lived in the same space? The answer is just one: Caffè di Marzano.

Entering this place is like breathing New York and Italian influences in the same environment. Unexpected? Perhaps. The owner of the space lives in London, is of Italian descent and, for many years, lived in New York; the employees are practically all Italian nationals; and António Cardoso, the manager, has more than 20 years of experience in the restaurant sector and wanted to create a concept that did not yet exist in Portugal: a coffee shop for all hours of the day.

The day changes and what we can find here also changes depending on our desires and appetites. It's a chameleonic place, which transforms as we transform ourselves (the mirror that opens from two secret doors and the lights that dance to an intimate rhythm prove this to us).

"When I arrived here, this space was in terrible condition. Today, the result is exactly as I imagined", explains António. The truth is that this place conjures an essentially versatile magic, accompanying us from sunrise to sunset, as it offers three distinct menus: a morning selection of juices, pancakes and freshly baked focaccia ; a second menu with dishes of the day, appetizers, small pizzettas and paninis ; and a last choice, full of classic cocktails , sustainable wines, cheese boards and another round of pizzettas .

Here, it's all about time, because it doesn't stop. The decor, already sophisticated and with positive vibes, was inspired by Italian cafes and bars of the past, based on the Italian concept of a central bar and functioning as a meeting point between friends and family. The bohemian life of the 60s is celebrated while toasting one of the wines from a special and sustainable selection, designed to please true connoisseurs. But we find the best kept secrets in the black book , a book that brings together the most secret wines from this house (and what a sweet temptation!).

A bohemian atmosphere in the center of Lisbon, in a café open every day, still in soft opening , from 9:00 to 00:00.
